Midwest Communications Radiothon for Kids: Believe in Miracles

December 18, 2018

Earlier this month, a remarkable number of donors, sponsors, volunteers, and Miracle families came together to raise $277,127 at the 13th annual Midwest Communications Radiothon for Kids presented by Seykora Remodeling.

Thank you to everyone who supported the radiothon in the spirit of the holiday, especially our friends at Midwest Communications — Big Country 92.5, Kelo-FM 101.9, New Q95.7 and KRRO 103.7.

Every dollar will stay local to create more miracles for kids who count on Sanford Children’s, the region’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

Here were some of the highlights:

Our 2019 Children’s Miracle Network Champion, Avery Hill, and many of our Miracle Families stopped by to share their stories and answer phones. Avery, 4, was born four months early, at just 29 weeks, and has cerebral palsy, but that didn’t stop her from talking a mile a minute during the radiothon.

Doc Murphy from Big Country 92.5 donned a shaker therapy vest to experience what the treatment feels like for kids with cystic fibrosis. The moment was both powerful and emotional. Watch the Facebook live video.

Jaxon and Jeren Scheff stopped by to donate $4,600. The brothers from Montrose, S.D., have a rare genetic disorder that affects both their breathing and eyesight.
