giving for good sioux falls

In partnership with supporters across the Sioux Falls region, we not only help build world-class facilities, like the Castle of Care and Ava’s House, but together we help touch the lives of every patient, family and caregiver who walks through the doors.

Last year, we put $7.4 million in philanthropic gifts to work across the Sioux Falls region.

We added a new full-time, philanthropy-funded behavioral health therapist for Sanford Child’s Voice, treated Sanford’s first patients with a type 1 diabetes medication called Tzield, provided nearly one ton of food each week to patient families through Kids’ Kitchen, and supported those impacted by breast cancer through nurse navigation, new 3D mammography technology, complimentary head coverings, and survivorship programs.

Local Priorities

The Sanford Health Foundation serves four diverse regions, each with their own distinct and meaningful priorities. Here are some of the initiatives that the Sioux Falls region supports.

For Children

Philanthropy supports the Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, the region’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partner, through services like Child Life, Child’s Voice, specialized summer camps for kids living with chronic health condition, spiritual care, school tutoring and so much more.

For Breast Health

Gifts to the Sioux Falls Edith Sanford Breast Center help supplement the costs of lifesaving MRIs and 3D mammograms, provide complimentary head coverings and wigs for patients, and supports services like nurse navigation, genetic counseling and survivorship programming at no cost to patients and clinical trials to make breakthroughs in care.

Leadership Connection

A monthly Sioux Falls region update from Paul Hanson, president & CEO of Sanford Sioux Falls

April 4th, 2024

April marks 18 months since we opened the pediatric emergency medicine program on our main medical campus in Sioux Falls. Home to the state’s only pediatric emergency medicine specialists, this program is another illustration of our commitment to bring health, hope and healing to patients at every age, and every stage of life. It’s also an example of philanthropy in action.

A trip to the ER is scary for anyone. But for a child, the experience can be especially difficult. As our pediatric specialists tend to the medical, social and emotional needs of young patients, they often call on our team of Child Life Specialists to help ease patients’ fears or anxiety through education and therapeutic play. For a child who needs urgent medical care, support from our Child Life Program can make all the difference. And thanks to philanthropy, this important service is never billed to families.

As always, thank you! With your support, we can continue to be here for all and here for good.

With gratitude,

Paul Hanson
