giving for good sioux falls

In partnership with supporters across the Sioux Falls region, we are pioneering life-saving medical research and enhancing care for patients at every age and every stage of life. We do this through philanthropy-funded services like Child Life, nurse navigators for cancer patients, new 3D mammography technology and survivorship programs. We also are helping kids experience the healing power of play and therapeutic benefits of the outdoors through the Billion Pavilion, a new outdoor play area for pediatric patients and their families.

Last year, we put $12.8 million in philanthropic gifts to work across the Sioux Falls region. Read more in the 2024 annual report.

Leadership Connection

A region update from Andy Munce, president & CEO of Sanford Sioux Falls.
October 7, 2025

Today, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide, impacting one in eight women during their lifetime. But thanks to leading-edge early detection equipment like 3D mammography, our dedicated team at the Edith Sanford Breast Center in Sioux Falls, and support from friends like you, we are confronting breast cancer head-on. Here, our incredible team of radiologists, oncologists, breast health DO’s, breast surgeons, nurse navigators, nurses and more are using equipment and technology made possible by philanthropy to detect and diagnose breast cancer earlier than ever before — before symptoms manifest — for better outcomes and improved recovery rates. They are working in collaboration with researchers and geneticists to identify patients who may be at a higher risk of breast cancer — allowing for early intervention before cancer cells develop, with the goal of preventing the disease altogether. And they are surrounding local patients fighting this devastating disease right now with love, hope and strength every step of the way.

To those of you who already support the Edith Sanford Breast Center, please know how grateful we are for your generosity. If you are looking for a way to get involved, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is the perfect time to make a difference. It takes all of us to win the fight against breast cancer. And when we unite as a community, we can not only turn awareness into action, we can turn hope into healing.
